World Social Forum – Marist Sisters

Sister Joséphine Ngoné Guèye, representing Caritas, participated in the World Social Forum held in Cotonou, Benin, from 2–9 August 2026.

The gathering brought together many civil society representatives from Africa, Europe and Brazil. It provided a rich space for sharing experiences, dialogue, solidarity and collective commitment around major issues of social justice and human dignity.

Sister Joséphine had the opportunity to participate as a panellist in discussions on freedom of movement, an important issue in the current context of mobility and migration. Her participation enabled her to share her experience while also listening to other perspectives and discovering initiatives that offer hope.

These encounters strengthened her determination to continue working for human dignity, social justice, safe mobility and the inclusion of people experiencing migration.

Sister Joséphine returned from the Forum enriched by new ideas, valuable contacts and a renewed conviction that dialogue, solidarity and collective action are essential for building societies that are more just, inclusive and respectful of the rights of every person.
