Marist Sisters Farewell

After 55 years of dedicated service, the Marist Sisters bid farewell to the parish of San Leonardo in Ponzano Veneto.

Sisters Maria Goretti, Maria Carmela, and Gianna Maria Cendron arrived in 1970 and immediately committed themselves to early childhood education and parish ministry. Visiting the sick and their families allowed them to build close relationships of listening, accompaniment, and support for the families.

When it was no longer possible to send sisters to Ponzano Veneto, Sister Gianna continued this mission for another 22 years.

On June 29, 2025, the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, the current parish priests Don Matteo and Don Alberto, along with former parish priest Don Bruno, surrounded by the parish community, gathered for a Thanksgiving Mass to bid farewell to the Marist Sisters, and in particular to Sister Gianna. Sister Sylvette joined Sister Gianna and the parish community for this moving celebration, which concluded with refreshments in the parish courtyard.
