Together at Fourvière
Honouring Our Marist Story

On 13th September, members of all the Marist branches from the Lyon area gathered to celebrate our The Holy Name of Mary, our Marist Feast Day with a beautiful Mass in the small chapel at Fourvière.
This year’s celebration was especially meaningful as we marked several important anniversaries:
- 200 years since the arrival of the Marist Fathers and Sisters in Belley,
- 200 years since the establishment of the Hermitage of the Marist Brothers,
- 180 years since Marie-Françoise Perroton set out on her missionary journey to Oceania, and
- 150 years since the death and legacy of Jean-Claude Colin.
Representatives from each branch reflected on the privilege and challenge of bearing Mary’s name in today’s world. Together, we prayed for the Fathers and Brothers taking part in their General Chapters, and gave thanks for all members of the Marist Family — past, present, and future.
The day concluded joyfully with a shared meal and warm conversation, accompanied by a splendid view over the city of Lyon.
