Pilgrimage to Our Beginnings

Walking where our story began

Srs Kalala and Seini have journeyed to Cerdon, France, and share some of the blessings of the day.

On their way to Cerdon that morning, they were greeted by stunning winter scenery. They delighted in touching the remaining ice from the early snow, while also pausing to reflect on the hardships their foundress and her first companions endured in the cold, humble setting of Cerdon, the site of the first and second homes of the Marist Sisters.

They visited the Catholic Church in Cerdon, where the Colin brothers, Jeanne-Marie Chavoin, and the early Marist Fathers and Sisters prayed each day at the very beginning of the Society of Mary.

The only remnant of the first house of the Marist Sisters was a rock on which they sat. They laughed as they told Sr Teri, their guide and companion during this time of pilgrimage, who took the photo, that they were pretending to be Sr Jeanne-Marie Chavoin and Sr Marie Jotillon.
