Pope's Monthly Prayer Intention

Pope’s Prayer Intention – January

The Pope’s monthly prayer intentions are prepared through a careful, prayerful process coordinated by the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network. Drawing on input from Vatican offices, bishops, Church agencies, and the lived realities of people around the world, proposed intentions are discerned in the light of the Gospel and the signs of the times. These are then submitted to the Pope, who reviews, may adjust, and personally approves them, ensuring they reflect both the needs of humanity and the mission of the Church.

Pope’s Prayer Monthly Prayer Intentions for 2026

As a new month commences we share on our Facebook Page resources prepared by Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network; Click to Pray and The Pope Video. Later in the month we share resources prepared by our SMCC Team – we try to give these a ‘Marist’ inspiration – assisting those who visit our page to deepen their understanding of our Marist Charism and Spirituality.

For prayer with the Word of God

As we begin 2026, Pope Leo invites us to pray “that praying with the Word of God be nourishment for our lives and a source of hope in our communities, helping us to build a more fraternal and missionary Church.”

Marist Resources

As Marist Sisters, we hear this call in the spirit of Mary, who listened to the Word with a quiet heart and allowed it to shape her daily life. When we open the Scriptures with the same simplicity and trust, the Word becomes a gentle light for our path, deepening our compassion, strengthening our hope, and helping us create communities marked by tenderness, reconciliation, and mission.

Taking time with Scripture invites us into stillness and attentiveness. Like Mary, who treasured God’s word in her heart, we are invited to pause, listen, and allow the Word to shape our daily lives. Even a brief moment with Scripture can nourish the spirit, deepen hope, and guide our actions with compassion. When the Word is received quietly and lived faithfully, it becomes a source of light not only for ourselves but for the communities we belong to.

Mary, Woman of the Word,
teach us to listen with your quiet heart.
May the Scriptures nourish our lives,
bringing light to our minds and hope to our communities.
As we ponder God’s Word in simplicity, help us become signs of tenderness, builders of unity, and companions for all who seek the Gospel.
Guide us to a more fraternal and missionary Church,
walking your humble way. Amen.

As we pray this month’s intention we would like to share a quote from our Constitutions which invites us to pray like Mary—meditating on God’s Word, contemplating Christ, and listening with a quiet, open heart.

In the quiet light of the Gospel, Marist Sisters are invited to pause and reflect on our daily lives. Our Constitutions remind us to examine our hearts each day in the light of the Gospel—giving thanks for God’s grace and noticing what may be holding us back from deeper growth. Like a candle beside the Scriptures, this simple practice helps us see more clearly, respond more lovingly, and continue our journey toward becoming more fully who God calls us to be.
