A Joyful “Yes, Lord!” in Davao

There was a wonderful sense of joy and excitement in Davao as the Sisters gathered with members of the Marist Family and their Mission Partners to launch the Marist Sisters’ Vocation Year on 6 September 2026.

The Sisters were delighted to join Marist Sisters around the world in marking a significant milestone: 200 years since the first profession of the Marist Sisters in Belley, France, on 6 September 1826. With hearts full of gratitude, they began this special Vocations Year under the theme “Yes, Lord.”

The Davao community warmly invited their families, friends, parishioners and Mission Partners to walk with them throughout the year, especially through prayer. Together, they reflected on Mary’s wholehearted “Yes” – a courageous response that opened her life to God and brought Christ to the world.

As the Sisters begin this journey, they pray that young people everywhere may be open to God’s call, trusting in his promises and responding with their own joyful and generous “Yes, Lord!”

Mary, our Mother, we entrust this Vocation Year to you. Walk with us and help us, like you, to give ourselves wholeheartedly to the Lord.
