Celebrating Sr Noelene’s Jubilee

The Sisters of the Unit of Australia, together with friends of Sr Noelene Simmons, gathered at the Marist Fathers Chapel at Montbel on 21 November 2025, the Feast of the Presentation of Mary, to celebrate her Golden Jubilee with a joyful Mass of thanksgiving.

As the Mass began, Sr Gail Reneker warmly welcomed all to the celebration, including Noelene’s guests. Fr Paul Mahony sm was the celebrant.

In gratitude for Noelene’s 50 years as a Marist Sister, the assembly joyfully proclaimed God’s goodness in word and song. The phrase “Called by a Gracious Choice” appeared on the liturgy booklet and echoed throughout the celebration.

At the conclusion of the Mass, Gail presented Noelene with a Papal Blessing bestowed on her by Pope Francis, who was the Pope at the time of her actual jubilee.

Following the Mass, everyone moved to the Dining Room at Villa Maria, where the celebration continued over a shared meal. Laughter and conversation filled the room. Sr Julie Brand offered warm reflections on Noelene’s Marist journey before proposing a toast. Noelene then thanked all present for their companionship and support over the years and cut her Jubilee cake.
