Celebrating Marist Life

Celebrating the Bicentenary of Setting Out

In Coutouvre: On 3rd October there was a wonderful gathering of townsfolk, Marist Sisters from all over the world and members of the wider Marist Family. Sr Teri O'Brien arranged the event in collaboration with the local people, in particular Mme Danielle Michaudon, M. Maurice De Depuis, and the mayor. The photos show the Eucharist presided over by Fr Paul Walsh sm, the welcome by Sr Marie-Thérèse Terra, the presentation by Sr Grace Ellul, internaitonal participants, the unveling of the memorial plaque by Srs Sylvette Mané and Anne McCabe as well as the cutting of the cake!

October 2017: One heart, one soul with our Founding Women

Join us as we prepare for the bi-centenary of that special moment when our two founding women,
Jeanne-Marie Chavoin and Marie Jotillon made the first definitive step towards establishing the Marist Sisters.

One of the ways we wish to prepare for this event in October of this year is to spend time remembering... reflecting...
giving thanks for the 'gracious choice' by which each of us belongs to Mary's little congregation.
Each month there will be a page to prompt our pondering as we recall
not only the commitment of Jeanne-Marie Chavoin and her companion, Marie Jotillon,
but our own commitment as well and that of Mary, our first and perpetual superior.

Concluding our Year of Fourvière Bicentenary

As we come to the end of a wonderful year celebrating the seeding of the Marist Family Tree, we Marist Sisters move into further reflection on how our little branch took root in the hearts of Jeanne-Marie Chavoin and Marie Jotillon.

October 1817 was the time they set out from the village of Coutouvre "to begin the Society of the Blessed Virgin" in Cerdon and eventually throughout the world...

A short presentation of our beginnings may be found here.

Reception of Novices in New Zealand

At last after a very long wait, two novices have been received for the English-speaking Novitiate in Auckland, New Zealand. We rejoice with Hazel of the Philippines (left) and Tulua of Tonga and assure them of our prayer. Blessings on their Director, Jane, and her Assistant, Margaret.

Marist Life was celebrated recently with four Final Professions. The Marist Sisters rejoice with Lilibeth, Edna and April of the Philippines and Anna of West Africa.
