On July 3rd Marist Fathers, Marist Missionary Sisters and Marist Sisters gathered in Ker Chavoin to celebrate the life of  our Foundress Jeanne Marie Chavoin (Mother St Joseph) with Mass and a meal.  Sr Mary Richardson had the privilege of sharing some insights on the life and spirituality of our Foundress.  Père Guy Roger S.M. stole her thunder, he spoke very movingly in his homily about this strong, humble woman.

Mary Richardson tole those gathered that she had spent more than 40 years trying to make sense of the difficulties between Jeanne Marie Chavoin and Jean Claude Colin.  She had long ago accepted that the only two people who could really explain what happened are the founder and foundress themselves.

Key points of her reflection were -   Be strong enough to hold fast to your dream, even when that dream is misunderstood by those closest to you.  Always bring your dream to prayer so that the Holy Spirit will show you how to make the dream a reality.  In Jeanne Marie Chavoin’s case her dream of a fully apostolic congregation was officially realized nearly a hundred years after her death.  Be strong, be humble and don’t forget to be patient.
