On 15 November 1845 the wonderful SMSM adventure began!
It is 175 years since Marie Françoise Perroton, the first of the pioneers, set out for Wallis Island in the Pacific. From then on our courageous Marist Missionary Sisters have followed that same mission - to set out and set out again.
The photos show:
-
the commemorative stamp from Wallis and Futuna,
-
the official photo of Marie Francoise Perroton, when she was received into the Third Order of Mary and was given the name of Sr Marie du Mont Carmel, and
-
all 11 pioneers.
Dear SMSMs, we rejoice with you and give thanks
for God's blessings to you - and though you - over all these years!
MAGNIFICAT!
May Jesus, Mary and your Pioneers accompany you always.
