Assembly of Leaders of Religious Institutes in the Philippines (AMRSWP)

In Cagayan de Oro City from 9-13 July, 88 Religious Sisters from 77 Congregations participated in the Annual convention. This year's theme was:  The need for Servant Leaders in the Philippine Church.

Sheila Manalo, leader of the Marist Sisters in the Philipines, was very enthusiastic about the event. Highlights included:
  • hearing  Fr Chito Sagunob share his call to serve as  God's priest in Marawi and his ordeal during the Marawi Seige,
  • an address by Sister of Sion Patricia Fox, who has been supported by AMRSWP throughout the recent immigration concerns,
  • an immersion experience on 12th July  Women's Solidarity Visit to Marawi City -.this provided an opportunity for a beautiful gathering called: Christian-Muslim Women for Peace: A Loving Conversation - the organizers recommended the wearing of "malong" and "Kombong" as a gesture of solidarity.
