 A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL:  HOPE SHINED

The  Diocese of Ji Paraná waited patiently for almost 2 years for a new Bishop to be announced. It was a difficult time- there was a economic, social,  political as well as a religious crisis. They were literally  'sheep without a shepherd'.

After years of experiencing a Church full of life walking along the people of God, and  committed with the organization of the communities and its social pastorals, today we live the reality of a Church that is very focused on itself, concerned with the sacraments, but in a way alienated from reality. These are hard times...

But, the good news arrived. Pope Francis has appointed a priest from the Congregation of the Divine Word,  Fr. Norbert Foerster, German, to the Diocese of Ji Paraná. He came to Brazil while still  a Seminarian, and  on 27th of February, of this year, took place the ceremony of his consecration as Bishop of the Diocese.  Sisters Valdere and Regina participated in his celebration which was beautiful and simple with all the normal social distancing protocols in place according to the present restrictions due to the Pandemic.

Before his ordination he wanted to know all the parishes in the Diocese, and he came to our parish on the 14th of February. He celebrated the Eucharist, after a delicious coffee in the parish house,  he held a small meeting with the secretariats, the Parish priest , Sr. Regina, together with Fr. Celestino. Then he made a tour around the neighborhood and visited Casa de Nazaré educational Center, coordinated by Sr. Izabel and  Santa Edwiges house coordinated by Sr.Valdere.  He could not visit the community of the Sisters due to heavy rain which caused the street to be flooded.
