(Unknown and as if hidden in the world)
Mary was present in the early church, but her presence was a quiet, unassuming one. We live our mission by the integration of prayer and action. Attentive to those most in need, we set aside our own interests to serve God’s people in joy, love and compassion.
Open to the Spirit and alert to the signs of the times, we reach out to others and acting as Mary, accepting that our efforts may be hidden and, as it were, unknown to others. To live in this manner is not to hide away from life but rather to be fully engaged in it in a simple, gentle, humble way. In the way that they work with people, Marists try not to draw attention to themselves.
